In this section, teachers can access video-taped interviews to learn more about what experts in education and linguistics say about raising learners’ awareness of the local language. Kent Sakoda (Director of the Sato Center for Pidgin, Creole and Dialect Studies) and Eileen Tamura (Professor in the College of Education at UH Manoa) provide their perspectives on teaching Pidgin to English learners. Furthermore, students in the ELI program explain how they would benefit from becoming acquainted with local language in Hawaii.
